Song Meme

Think of THE song that most inspires you to write, whether it gives you an idea for a story, script or just puts you into a better frame of mind AND/OR peek into the lyrics and find a verse that sums up the theme of whatever project it is you’re working on.

If possible, post a video of the song to convey to readers the full context of the song and the mood it puts you into. Finally, send the assignment to five other writers to do as well.

Well, I’m not sure this counts, but this song puts me into Emo Overdrive (which I assume is the state of mind MANY writers are perpetually in. Pardon me if I’m wrong.)

Whiskey Lullaby – Brad Paisley

It’s such a sad and depressing song that it sometimes makes me what to write a story based on this song. Like how this song applies different couples, spanning different countries, different era … I mean, I can’t prove that True Love exists, but I know there are some form of love out there that keeps people together, and till death do them part.

wahh, really sad song… at the same time makes me upset because i don’t think it’s… right? to take your own life just because you have an unrequited love. but in the context of the video, his judgement is probably quite off since he just came back from the war and all… as for the girl, she killed herself out of her guilt more than anything, it seems to me… should’ve thought twice before fooling around with another guy or making promises.

Interesting, because when I first heard the song I didn’t take this video into context. I still don’t. I don’t know the reason why “she put him out like the ends of a burning cigarette” – but I guess that forms the “storyline” I can explore; say ditching this boy on purpose out of family pressure or something. (Bollywood-ish, no? :p)

oh, and i meant to ask, the setting of the video looks like the setting of the forrest gump movie, right down to the house, don’t you think so?

Now that you mentioned it, YES! Even the tree outside the house. :P
